2:00:25 - Sub-2-hour Marathon requires Collaboration

2017-05 (see also LinkedIn) Saturday May 6 in Monza saw Eliud Kipchoge finishing a marathon with a time of 2:00:25.  The event staged at the Monza racetrack in Italy was more an experiment rather than a competitive record race due to the highly controlled environment (see Youtube clip). Accordingly, the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) has noted that the race may not be eligible for official world record ratification (see IAAF announcement).

Sub 2-hour marathon

Breaking the two-hour barrier requires a holistic approach to athlete predisposition, training, race preparation and performance, sports medicine, nutrition, bioenergetics and biomechanics, psychology and sports technology: Collaboration across multiple disciplines.
